The departmental health secretary, Edil Toledo, sworn in this Friday, January 13, to Julio Cesar Koca Paniagua as the new director of the Santa Cruz Headquarters, after Governor Luis Fernando Camacho appointed him through Departmental Resolution 1381, which he signed from his confinement in Chonchocoro.
“We are very happy that our governor has chosen a suitable person with enough experience, They are more than 30 years of experience that he has. He has been in the public system, so he knows how the health system is managed ”, Toledo highlighted.
Julio Cesar Koca Paniagua, 56 years old, is obstetrician gynecologist doctor Graduated from the Universidad Mayor Real y Pontificia de San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca. Among his titles is the Master of Public Health with a mention in Health Systems Management, awarded by the Bolivian Medical College.
During his 31-year career, he held important positions, such as the national management of services in ProSalud for 13 years, in addition to different consultancies in health entities. Since 2008 he has also worked as an emergency gynecology and obstetrics physician at the French Hospital.
In a brief contact with the media, Koca stated that he assumes this management with great challenges, such as eliminate queues in hospitals, make the service more efficient, digitize the system and continue insisting on the historical demand for items for the department.
The outgoing manager, Erwin Viruez, has been in office since May 2021 and among its main tasks was containing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and promoting vaccination against this and other diseases.
He stated that his dismissal is due to a “transition and restructuring” of the departmental Executive and affirmed that now he will return to work as a medical assistant.
