The color and cultural mix will be lived this February 19 in the district of Chilca, with the return of the Southern Carnival in its 2023 version, where delegations from Huancavelica, Ayacucho and the province of Huancayo will participate. This event is resumed after two years of being suspended, due to the covid-19 pandemic. The “Southern Carnival 2023”, will be organized by the District Municipality of Chilca, through the House of Culture.

The groups “Jarmenja de Churcampa” (Huancavelica), Carnival of Huanta (Ayacucho), Tipaki Tipaki of Tayacaja (Huancavelica); and others, from the province of Huancayo and the Junín region, confirmed their participation, according to the district commune.
The concentration for the parade will be from 11:30 in the morning at the intersection of Torre Tagle and 9 de Diciembre avenues, to then make its way to Calle Real, Leoncio Prado avenue and its arrival at Teodoro Peñaloza park.

The contestants will wear the clothing of their region, in addition to being accompanied by musicians from their area, which makes a meeting of Andean cultures, in the south of Huancayo.
Great cash prizes will be awarded up to a value of 13 thousand soles. Registration is still open and is free at the Casa de la Cultura de Chilca, located on Avenida 9 de Diciembre N°406.
