The plenary session of the Finance and Budget committees of the Chamber of Deputies that analyzes the project on the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) resumed this Wednesday the discussion with the purpose of issuing an opinion on the initiative sent to Congress by the Executive Power.
The meeting began after 2:15 p.m., with more than 45 minutes of delay, in search of reaching the plenary with greater consensus.
In this framework, and at the time the plenary started, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, was at the Government House to analyze with officials of the Executive Branch the proposals reached by the opposition blocs to modify the text.
Opening the debate, the chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee, Charles Hellerprovided an extensive report on the origin of the debt with the IMF and highlighted that, according to the organization, the government of Mauricio Macri “did not meet the goals set” with the international organization.
For his part, the president of the block of deputies of the Front of All, German Martinezmaintained: “We came to debate, we did not come to disqualify them” and highlighted the “diversity of views that were expressed” in the discussion that began on Monday in the lower house on the agreement reached by the national government with the IMF.
Martínez said that “with this treatment we are setting a precedent that I consider extremely important for the life of Argentina,” reaffirming the will of the ruling party to advance this afternoon in a majority opinion on the project sent by the Executive Power.
“We come here with the intention that at the end of this third moment we can issue the corresponding opinion in order to have the order of the day to arrive at the site for treatment. We come with the intention that we do not deprive ourselves of giving any opinion“, asserted the legislator.
In the schedule proposed by the Front of All (FdT) in Parliament, the idea of meeting this Thursday at noon to give half sanction to the project that will validate the understanding with the international credit organization to refinance the debt contracted by the Government of Macri.

National deputies of Together for Change highlighted the importance of the country not falling into default, although they questioned the economic program that accompanies the project that is being debated in a plenary session of lower house commissions.
Deputy Alejandro Cacace, from Radical Evolutionpointed out that “Argentina’s problem is that it does not generate confidence at the international level or in the markets to be able to finance its own government, and this is a great difference with the rest of the countries with fiscal deficits.”
“Here a default was applauded believing that we were doing the great mischief and it turns out that with that we stayed outside the international markets for years, which made it difficult to finance our State,” he added.
The San Luis continued: “Here is the answer as to why we are going to the IMF, because I see that there is a justification that we are going, but we do not want to go, but it turns out that we are going again, for the twenty-second time”
“We are not going (to the IMF), we are,” the official Carlos Heller, president of the Budget and Treasury Commission, replied.
For his part, heRepublican Laura Rodríguez Machado, At the time of his speech in the plenary of the commissions, he asserted: “We do not share this agreement, not only because we do not agree, but because our management did the opposite of the parameters that they propose.”
Fernando Iglesiasexpressed: “This deputy has a commitment to the country and that is that the Government does not send him to default, but he also has a commitment to the productive country and therefore I am going to accompany him as long as there is a guarantee that taxes will not be increased “.
From the Civic Coalition, Paula Oliveto, He remarked: “I think that at this time, where there is 50% poverty, 50% inflation, where a retiree earns 30,000 pesos, it demands of us greater responsibility, greater poise and greater responsibility in the analysis.”
“The opposition has to be responsible because what we do today is going to have an impact on the lives of many Argentines. We are the opposition and they cannot ask us to take charge of an economic program of a government of which we are not a part, but rather we are opponents “, he added.
