The president of the Ancap Federation (FANCAP), Gerardo Rodríguez, wrote on his Twitter account that “ANCAP and especially director Charamelo declared war on Fancap, they want to slaughter two exemplary officials for something that we ALL know they did not do. If they are angry with 2 innocents they will not have a truce. We will defend them with all our might.”
The director of the state company, Richard Charamelo, was consulted, and he disagreed with the statements made by the union.
He clarified that the two field officials, who were tasked with monitoring access to the ANCAP “torch” zone, were given a 15-day sanction when it was detected that, by action or omission, they allowed other people to entered the property, so an administrative investigation was immediately initiated with the corresponding summaries.
The nationalist director added that, for the moment, the final result of the investigation is not known, so it is not possible to issue an opinion regarding other types of sanctions, but that decision will be made when said process ends, which is carried out forward “with all the guarantees of due process.”
Regarding the sanctions, he acknowledged that, eventually, there are officials who could be fired, but he reiterated that the path to follow in each case is not yet known.
He acknowledged that he is trying to find out who were the three people who went up to put up the banner for the “YES” to the repeal of the LUC, but he is certain that they are also company officials, who were not supposed to be there . In his opinion, that interference put their lives and that of the other plant workers at risk, “which could have ended in a tragedy,” he added.
Regarding the statements of Gerardo Rodríguez, he assured that “the president of FANCAP wants to make a circus of all this”, to add that this attitude is part of a union action that raises conjectures regarding things that have not happened.
