MADRID, Spain.- Cuban political prisoner José Daniel Ferrer has been semi-naked for almost four months in the Mar Verde prison, in Santiago de Cuba, with skin lesions due to mosquito bites, as well as fungal and bacterial bites, without receive the required medical attention, denounced his wife Nelva Ismaray Ortega.
“He is in a cell (isolated) under inhuman, cruel and degrading conditions, with his basic pathologies and other symptoms associated with those dungeons, technologically prepared to torture him,” Ortega denounced in conversations with Radio Television Marti.
Regarding the prohibition of calls and limitation of visits, the wife of the leader of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU), specified: “Last Friday, like every Friday, waiting for the call of my brave husband, the Castro-communist regime- Canel denied it again. (…) Not even taking it out on the phone! The last time it was under protest, on June 4 of this year.”
“Without the right to family and conjugal visits, feeding on the ‘jaba’ that we bring him and that they allow him every forty-five days, they even deny him even a sheet of paper to be able to demand and request religious assistance,” added the activist.
Faced with this situation, Nelva Ismaray Ortega declared: “Without a doubt, the Castro-Canel dictatorship, despite burying him alive and slowly killing him, does not stop fearing a man, a simple man, for his unwavering firmness.”
