The development of the Institute of Nephrology, Hematology and Blood Bank advances

A single structure in which the services of the Social Security Fund (CSS) are centralized, was redefined by the general director of the entity Enrique Lau Cortés, in the City of Health, so that the specialties that have to do with transplantation be integrated, creating the Institute of Nephrology, Hematology and Blood Bank, which will provide patients with each of the respective services.

Dimas Quiel, who will serve as director of this institute, explained that this is intended to centralize all the services that perform transplants in a single structure, since nephrology performs liver and hematology performs bone marrow transplants.

He added that with this it will be possible to make a better management of the resources to face the great demand of these therapies, which have a great cost; For example, he revealed that the CSS Hematology service receives about 1,200 consultations per month.

For his part, Eng. Rogelio Robles, manager of the City of Health Project, reported that the work presents a general progress of 84.81%, with three phases still to be delivered, of the five that make up the project. The workforce is 3,088 field workers, and is expected to increase before completion, scheduled for December 2023.
