The man arrested for the femicide of his ex-partner, the policewoman Tamara Gómez Coronel, confessed this Wednesday that he attacked her with knives at her house in the Buenos Aires town of Melchor Romero last Monday, although sought to justify the aggression by ensuring that he was under violent emotion because he had just found out that the victim had been unfaithful to him, judicial sources reported.
Is about Nélson Iván Teves (34), who was investigated by the prosecutor Juan Cruz Condomí Alcorta who accused him of being perpetrator of the crime of “homicide doubly aggravated by the relationship and gender violence (femicide)”, which provides in a future oral trial the penalty of life imprisonment.
In his investigation before the prosecutor, Teves explained that that night he went to the house of his ex, with whom he had ended the relationship days before, and He reproached her that a friend had told him that she was unfaithful to him.
Sources of the investigation assured Télam that the man added that, faced with this situation, he began a strong discussion with her until at a certain point he went to look for a knife in the kitchen.
But nevertheless, the aggressor said that from then on he no longer remembers what happened, until he regained consciousness minutes later, sitting on the body of his ex-wife and with the knife in his hand and all bloody. Later, he told the prosecutor that after carrying out the crime he called several people, including some friends to whom he confessed what he had done.
The judicial sources explained to Télam that at various times during his investigation he spoke of the woman’s alleged infidelity and that, in the investigators’ opinion, it was a defensive maneuver to try to argue that he acted under “violent emotion.”
Anyway, Teves was formally detained and in the next few days the prosecutor Condomí Alcorta plans to request preventive detention, which must be determined by the judge of Guarantees of La Plata, Agustín Crispo.
How it happened
The femicide was registered around 2 in the morning of last Monday in a house located on 156th street, between 529 and 530, in the town of Melchor Romero, where Gómez Coronel lived, an officer from the La Plata Patrol Command, along with her 8-year-old daughter that she had with Teves.
Investigators were able to determine that the night before the man took the daughter to the home of a relative, who asked to receive her to sleep. Then, he went to Tamara’s house to supposedly talk for the recent separation that they had agreed upon. However, the conversation morphed into a fight in which Teves beat up Tamara and then stabbed and killed her, investigators determined.
A sister of Tamara who lives on the same property but in a house in the back, began to hear her sister’s cries for help and ran to help her.
“He entered through a window and saw the man while he was still stabbing his sister. He threw himself on him and managed to push him away, “an investigator told Télam, who added that the aggressor threw the knife and went out into the street to escape from the scene. Several neighbors were already on the sidewalk who began to attack him, but anyway He managed to get into his blue Volkswagen Polo car and escape.
The woman was transferred to the Alexander Korn Hospital but the doctors determined that she was already deceased, while the aggressor was arrested shortly after, at 170 and 517 streets, while walking with a naked torso, shorts and flip flops.
“He had blood stains and a cut on the thumb of his right hand,” the investigators detailed and specified that his car was found in the home of a relative, located at 177 and 526 streets.
The researchers determined that there were no complaints of mistreatment made by Tamara and that the man had no criminal record.
