The decisive impulse to the electoral process

The decisive impulse to the electoral process

The countdown to the general elections of August 17 enters the decisive phase. At the same time that the electoral campaign intensifies, both the one that seeks votes and accessions, and the one that persists in dynamiting the process by disinforming the electorate; Shadows on the task of the Supreme Electoral Court are also increased. A post in social networks is enough to open a small way to doubt that the thorough work performed by the electoral vowels.

The process itself has not been easy. With the ghost of the present fraud and the doubts generated by the interference of the judicial body in the last judicial elections, the members of the TSE had the mission of strengthening every step to reestablish democratic trust and demonstrate the independence that corresponds to them as an organ of the State. And, in the absence of 15 days for the appointment with the polls, it is necessary to highlight the work of the vowels.

After the incomprehensible stroke that meant the incomplete judicial election, the TSE opted for transparency as an option. During this time, he increased his media participation, he was much more open with the media and more accessible to meet citizens’ doubts. He summoned the various political actors again and again and issued enlightening communications for the citizen.

In this transit to the general elections, the TSE has found pitfalls and trancas that stopped the proper advance. Under repeated opportunities, breach of agreements for political groups, legislators and judicial instances, forced the Plenary Chamber to make ’emergency’ decisions not to stop along the way. Despite this lack of accompaniment, the activities calendar was fulfilled thanks to the firm commitment of the vowels of the TSE.

This tour to reach the election appointment of August 17, has not been exempt from critical moments. The complaints filed against the authorization of parties and political groups put the democratic process in check and, above all, the TSE position staining suspicion. Those affected with the loss of the acronym bombarded with unjustified accusations the credibility of both the electoral body and that of its members.

There were, and there are more threats about the ongoing electoral process. Some come from inside the court itself and feed on the concerns raised following the medical decline presented by Oscar Hassenteufel, the rector of this crucial process. The alert on a boycott persists also to the exercise of the vote. Ruth Nina’s statements and other evism spokesmen that instruct their followers to resort to anti -democratic and violent methods to prevent both the campaign and due development of the decisive electoral day, turn on alarms.

The questions to the register, the criticisms of the new system of transmission of preliminary results (Sirepre) and the carelessness of political groups in constant accompaniment to the election process have become other red lights.
Beyond these clouds that persist on the electoral process, both the management played by the vowels of the TSE and the firm conviction of hundreds of citizens committed to the care of the vote, become guarantors of an election that opens the doors to hope for a new future in Bolivia.
