LA ROMANA.– The authorities reported that three the deceased as a result of the collapse of a building Under construction in the Villa Nazareth sector, in La Romana.
The last of the deceased workers remained caught under the rubble for more than 12 hours before being rescued without life.
The authorities indicated that the building did not have permits corresponding to the City Council and that, before the collapse, the owners had been warned to stop the construction.
The injured were transferred to a health center, while research continues to clarify the causes of collapse and determine possible responsibilities.
The incident occurred while the workers did work in the building, which collapsed suddenly.
The entities that make up the Emergency Operations Center (COE), with support from Verón, Higüey and San Pedro de Macorís, participated in the search and rescue work.
