During the funeral, Boluarte hugged the children of the late former president, Keiko and Kenji.
However, three years earlier, the then candidate for Free Peru Vice-president Dina Boluarte described Alberto Fujimori as “the sixth most corrupt president in the world.” At this meeting, Boluarte debated with Fuerza Popular’s candidate for the second Vice-Presidency, Patricia Juárez.
Boluarte derogatorily emphasized Alberto Fujimori’s Japanese ancestry, calling him “Mr. Oriental.”
“In 1990, an oriental-type character appeared and told us ‘I will work with honesty, technology and work.’ What did he give us? Honesty? He is the sixth most corrupt president in the world. Work? The first thing he did was fire thousands of workers. Technology? Since the 90s, Peru has not even been able to produce the tire for the tractor that this oriental man climbed onto,” said Boluarte.
However, former President Alberto Fujimori was rated not as the sixth most corrupt president, but as the seventh, according to the Global Corruption Report 2004, conducted by the NGO Transparency International.
These statements took place in the debate of technical teams of Peru Libre and Fuerza Popular, during the second presidential round of 2021, where Peter Castillo and Keiko Fujimori they were seeking to reach the presidential seat.
“President Fujimori did not go to Chalhuanca, he went to Antabamba, and he did not go to install electricity, but to get a beautiful woman from Antabamba, because he was trying to make her his lover,” said the then candidate for Vice President.
