One of the great advances that the labor market generated around the world after the pandemic was the implementation of teleworking, a modality thanks to which millions of employees were able to balance their personal lives and daily office obligations, while many companies learned that They can be more efficient and effective with this system, saving costs associated with transportation for one and costs associated with offices and maintenance for the other.
However, despite the benefits already mentioned, there are still those who oppose this way of working and prefer their workers to go to the office in person, arguing that this way they can better monitor their productivity and avoid cases of shift evasion or starting at hours outside the hours established by the company.

This is apparently the case of a United States company that through The company has gone viral on social media, not only because it apparently has reluctance to work remotely, but because it offers its vacancies with messages that are totally contrary to its philosophy, since it says that you should only go when it is strictly necessary, which apparently is not entirely true.
What happened?
Through the social network Reddit, the account ‘r/antiwork’ published a message, with alleged evidence, in which it claims that a company posted a job vacancy in which it said that it was only mandatory to go when necessary, a clause that turned out to be the opposite of what the person who finally ended up accepting expected.
“The job was described as working from home on a regular basis, but with the ability to come in person when needed. After learning on the first day that ‘when needed’ meant Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., I had to really push to be able to work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. “I expressed my concerns a couple of times to no avail before putting my foot down,” they said.

Likewise, this post includes images of the affected person talking to his boss via text messages, and it can be seen that even though the boss says he is working from home, he would return to the office at noon, so all staff should return to their desks to leave their daily paperwork.
There are also screenshots of recriminations in which the supervisor asks him why he works from home, during the days that she reached an agreement with the company to access this benefit. Although the evidence shows that there is a clear argument, the boss reproached her for having misinterpreted the job description, which, according to him, had been “clarified to her on several occasions.”
The pressure and harassment reached such a point that, after several threats to take the case to human resources to open the respective process, the user decided to resign, but not before criticizing companies for resorting to this type of strategy or deception to attract talent with offers that in the end are not true.
Harsh criticism
Beyond the background of the messages issued by this company, the complaint on Reddit It ended up sparking a wave of criticism against this firm and others that use these tricks to deceive employees. For example, another user noted that “I was applying for jobs today and there were so many jobs that blatantly lied about being remote.”
“For example, I clicked on a job that claimed to be remote-only and some of its requirements were that you had to run coffee errands for the office, transport other employees to work, and pet-sit. (I thought it was a veterinary clinic because of the pet-sitting, but it turned out to be a dental clinic.) I don’t even know where the office is, since “remote” jobs don’t have a physical location listed in the ad,” one comment reads.
This type of situation, without a doubt, brings to the table the debate regarding one of the challenges that companies are having to attract human talent, since salaries and stability are no longer sufficient for the offer and on the contrary it is necessary to resort to other tools, more associated with emotional or compensation factors that go beyond the economic and generate well-being.
