The Cuban regime is merciless with the family of Luis Robles, "the young man with the banner"

Yindra Elizastigui, mother of Luis Robles, “the young man with the banner,” denounced this Monday that her youngest son, Lester Fernández, has been detained since December 19 and is currently in the Valle Grande prison, in Havana. . Through a live broadcast On Facebook, the woman explained that the young man is accused of “an illegal exit attempt”, being arrested when he was building a boat.

“He was not caught at sea,” he stressed this Monday after leaving the Provincial Court of Havana. Lester was fined 7,000 pesos by the “Border Guards,” according to what Yindra was told. The seven people who were arrested with her son were fined 3,000 pesos and “since December 19 they have been free on the street,” the woman said.

Due to the way in which the process against her son has been carried out, Yindra Elizastigui said that it is a clear “retaliation for being the brother of Luis Robles, who is suffering an unfair sentence.”

Lester Fernández Elizastigui was arrested and taken to the Cojímar police station. His mother recounts that on this site the first question the State Security agent asked him was whether he was the brother of Luis Robles, because the last name Elizastigui is very rare on the Island.

The young man’s mother does not understand why after Cojímar Lester was taken to Villa Marista, the State Security operations center. “Why was my son transferred there? Why didn’t they release him like the other people they arrested that day?”

The woman just hopes they don’t want to blame Lester for being the “ringleader, the promoter, the one who paid for everything: food, gas and what they found” for the construction of the boat.

“It seems that it is not enough for them to make me suffer for one and now they have me for the other.

Enough already. I won’t give up until I see them free.” wrote on the same social network along with two photos of the young people and, after broadcasting live. “Freedom for my sons Luis Robles Elizastigui and Lester Fernández Elizastigui and for all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience,” he demanded.

Robles’ mother has gained notoriety on social networks since she began to denounce the unjust imprisonment of her son Luis Robles and the mistreatment the young man has suffered in prison. The woman communicated in the first live broadcast of her on Facebook, last junethat Robles had received constant ill-treatment, such as being photographed without clothes and against his will.

This denunciation by Yindra was made a few months after the sentence of 5 years in jail for the young man, convicted of demonstrating peacefully on December 4, 2020, in the central Boulevard of San Rafael street in Havana, with a sign in his hands that called for the end of the repression and the freedom of the Cuban rapper Denis Solis.

“Perhaps many of the people who are watching and listening to me will say that I took a long time because my son Luis Robles has been incarcerated for a year and six months, unfairly for me, and I know that for many too,” he said then. “I have dared to make this direct today because in reality I already feel outraged, I feel uncomfortable with what is happening with my son.”

Robles is currently serving his sentence at the maximum security Combinado del Este prison.
