The Cuban Police detain the alleged murderer of a 17-year-old boy stabbed in Santa Clara

The alleged murderer of Fran García Rojas, a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the El Condado neighborhood, in Santa Clara, has been identified this Friday by the Police as Yanaikel Ruano Villavicencio. The information was published by the official Fuerza del Pueblo profile, linked to the Ministry of the Interior and which collects information on crime in Villa Clara.

García was attacked early this Wednesday morning during a party on Estrada Palma street, the main artery of El Condado and where the feared Fifth Police Unit is located in Santa Clara. After a fight motivated by “the effects of alcohol”, Ruano stabbed the young man in the back. He was immediately transferred to the Arnaldo Milián hospital, where he soon died “due to the wound received.”

Ruano was arrested along with other individuals who promoted the fight and, after interrogation, confessed to having murdered García. The case is still under investigation, although neither the local press nor the Ministry of the Interior – which, according to Fuerza del Pueblo, escorted the relatives during the burial – have issued an official version.

The young man’s relatives have mourned Garcia’s death on social media. His cousin, Leisester Machado, stated that he was “destroyed” by the incident and pointed out that he was “cowardly” killed. He added that it would have been better if García had left Cuba, as the family recommended several times.

in communication with Marti NewsThe young man’s aunt, Oslainy César Hernández, explained that the attack was multiple and that “a neighbor of his mother” came to help him after the stab wound and took him to the hospital. However, she said, “the wound was very deep.”

Ruano was arrested along with other individuals who promoted the fight and, after interrogation, confessed to having murdered García.

The woman also clarified that the incident occurred at 1:00 am and that García had been “rebuked by the leader of a criminal gang.” The detainees are, presumably, five individuals.

During the burial, Hernández continues, the family called for justice for the young man, while many people “came out of their homes to support us and shout with us.” “This has to stop, it’s a massacre,” he concludes, alluding to the crisis of violence that the island is experiencing.

In an editorial published by the state press last week, the government assured that in Cuba “there is no passivity or impunity” with criminals, while denouncing that violent acts are “shamelessly magnified or manipulated by enemy digital sites.”

According to the text, titled The revolutionary guard will never neglect, violent acts represent 8.5% of all crimes, of which 60% of the perpetrators are arrested and charged. In cases with fatalities or with the use of a firearm, the levels of “clarification” are higher than 90%, according to that same source.

Violence, meanwhile, continues to escalate. In Santa Clara itself, on May 23, a coachman was murdered for stealing his cart and his horse. Antonio Silvino Diaz Yera57, was stabbed outside the Los Caneyes hotel.

The Cuban doctor was also assassinated to steal his motorbike in Havana. Paul Corrales Susi. The information was published by another of the Facebook profiles associated with State Security, La Página de Mauro Torres.

The publication ensures that an “anonymous” source from the Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the perpetrator of the crime, whose identity was not revealed, used a “ruse” so that the doctor agreed to take him from the area known as Piquera de 126 to another town. On the way back, he “seized the opportunity” to steal his motorcycle and other belongings by assaulting him with a knife.
