The Cuban Government hides that a donation from Spain to treat the covid was at its request

The Spanish Government, through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Embassy in Cuba, donated two tons of medicines to Cuba to help treat critically ill patients with covid-19. The shipment was made in response to a request for help from Havana and, although the official press has reported the arrival of the shipment, at no time has it revealed that it was made after their request for help.

The shipment is mainly composed of heparin and hydrocortisone, both necessary in a good part of the intensive treatments of COVID-19 patients, according to AECID in a statement.

The Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Spain in Cuba, Javier González San Juan, was in charge of making the formal delivery of the donation this Tuesday. The cooperation agency revealed that it was a response to “an appeal from the Government of Cuba due to the shortage of medicines.” The transport was carried out by the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Cuban Red Cross.

The general director of Collaboration of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, Magalys Estrada Díaz, recalled during the ceremony the exceptional circumstances in which the Cuban health system is working and underlined the urgency in joining efforts and wills to fight against a global challenge.

Luis Foyo Ceballos, executive president of the Cuban Red Cross, also intervened in the ceremony, where he thanked the trust placed and insisted on the importance of drugs for the treatment of patients in intensive care, according to a report by the Cuban Agency for News.

The period of crisis caused by the pandemic has demanded solidarity between nations and in this situation the demonstration of solidarity of the Spanish people with the Cuban could not be missed, added Javier González Sanjuán, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of Spain.

Cuba has received several donations, especially from countries allied to the Havana regime, such as Venezuela, Mexico, Russia and Nicaragua, many of them with food included. In addition, organizations related to the ruling party in different countries, including the United States, have also contributed money and medicines for other shipments.
