(EFE).- The Cuban government criticized this Saturday the “propaganda hysteria” of the United States against Russia in the context of the Ukraine crisis.
The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, charged against the neighboring country a day after the Russian Vice Prime Minister, Yuri Borísov, visited Havana.
“We strongly reject the propaganda and communication hysteria unleashed by the United States government against Russia,” Rodríguez assured in his Twitter profile. Twitter.
The foreign minister added that Cuba is “firmly” opposed to the “expansion of NATO to the borders of that sister country.”
In a statement about Borisov’s visit, the Cuban Foreign Ministry already showed its “solidarity” with Russia before “the constant campaigns of disinformation and propaganda war” of the USA.
Likewise, he underlined his opposition to “the unilateral and unjust sanctions” from the West to Moscow and to NATO’s extension to the east, in reference to a possible incorporation of Ukraine, something that several allies have rejected.

Borisov’s visit, which closed a Latin American tour in Havana that also included Venezuela and Nicaragua, took place at a time of heightened tensions between Russia and the US over Ukraine.
The trip takes place a month after the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Riabkov, don’t rule out in an interview Moscow’s interest in deploying military infrastructure in Cuba and Venezuela, something that provoked a strong reaction in the West.
Shortly after, Miguel Díaz-Canel and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, had a phone conversation. Borísov, according to the Minrex, indicated that his visit was linked to this call.
As the Cuban Presidency explained at the time, in the call “a profound exchange of views was carried out on issues of commercial, economic and bilateral investment cooperation.”
For his part, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, then denied that the leaders had spoken of increasing military-technical cooperation or establishing Russian bases in Cuba.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry indicated that Borisov’s visit addressed issues of transportation, energy, industry and finance. The statement did not mention defense or military-technical cooperation.
