In his career, the prosecutor has received accusations and complaints for which he is no stranger to public scrutiny and media questioning; as a reference, he points out that in a search on the digital platform of the newspaper Reform he realizes that since January 2001 he has been mentioned in 141 opinion columns, that is, he is a character accustomed to being talked about, for better and for worse.
This Monday, by protecting Laura Morán and Alejandra Cuevas Morán, the highest court will recognize that there were irregularities in their legal process, but also – without mentioning it – will admit that in that case the influence of Gertz Manero in the judicial system was notorious.
At the beginning of this text, a question was asked: “What will happen to prosecutor Gertz Manero?” The answer lies in an endorsement made by the president on December 22, when there was speculation about his possible replacement after the Cuevas-Morán case grew in the media: “There is no sign of change in the Attorney General’s Office . We are very satisfied with what corresponds to the president, to the head of the Executive Power, we agree, satisfied with the performance of prosecutor Alejandro Gertz Manero”, he remarked.
Surely, after today’s decision, the prosecutor will be supported again and will continue in his position, accumulating power, controversies and confrontations.
