Santo Domingo.-The Dominican Republic is emerging as a key meeting point for the world in the coming years, with the celebration of events of global relevance in various areas such as law, politics, press and sports.
The country will host momentous meetings that will not only strengthen its position in the international arena, but will also have a significant impact on the economy, tourism and the projection of its country brand.
From 2025 to 2027, the Dominican territory will host the meeting of the World Law Association, the Inter-American Press Association (IAPA), the Summit of the Americas, the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, and the Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). ), which includes the choice of the venue for the next Olympic Games after those in 2030.
Law Association
The first relevant event will be next May with the meeting of the World Law Association, which will bring together jurists, lawyers, academics and experts from various parts of the world in Santo Domingo.

IAPA meeting
That same year, in October, the Inter-American Press Association will meet in Punta Cana to debate the challenges of journalism in a context of growing misinformation, political polarization and attacks on press freedom.
The IAPA has highlighted the importance of this event in the Dominican Republic as a space to reflect on the protection of journalists, the regulation of digital platforms and the fight against disinformation.
In recent years, the Dominican Republic has been leading countries in respect to press freedom, according to the Chapultepec index.
In 2023 it came in first place and this year it came in second place, only surpassed by Chile.
During its general assembly, the IAPA evaluates the state of press freedom in all the countries of the continent, discusses the situation of journalistic companies, new challenges and chooses the president of the entity, as well as the appointment of the different commissions. .
Summit of the Americas
As a highlight of 2025, the Dominican Republic will host the Summit of the Americas, where leaders from the continent will discuss crucial issues such as climate change, economic integration and democratic governance.

The one in December 2025 has expectations of the possible participation of the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, which would become the first visit by a North American president to Dominican territory.
Central American Games
The sport will take center stage in 2026 with the celebration of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place in Santo Domingo. This event will bring together more than 30 countries and some 6,000 athletes who will compete in various disciplines.
