At the end of last August, the national inventory of rice for demand and consumption by the population reached 5,415,315 quintals, and a second harvest of more than 5,800,000 quintals is projected.
This was reported on Monday by Heraldo Suero, president of the Dominican Association of Rice Factories (AdoFA), who guaranteed that the country can count on quality rice to fully satisfy national demand, including the tourism sector.
Regarding prices, Suero stated that the cereal is being offered below the price established in the Resolution of the National Rice Commission, for Select A rice in 125-pound sacks, RD$31.70 per pound; a format that represents 70% of sales to the trade. In addition, he projected that the price will remain stable, with a minimal downward trend, at the beginning of the harvest next month.
He also called on the trade sector and the general public to approach any of the rice factories that are members of ADOFA so that your orders are dispatched regularly with quality, quantity and timely delivery.
