The pound of red beans is quoted at 36 córdobas.

For Don Juan Francisco Calero, a resident of Juigalpa, the prices of basic products are too expensive in this area, despite the fact that it produces grains. “It is not possible that we are buying a pound of red beans for 36 córdobas, when in reality it should be costing between 15 and 20 córdobas,” the buyer said, concerned.

“Imagine, in the surroundings of Juigalpa we produce beans and it is not fair that we are buying the pound at that price. The truth is that every day, merchants take advantage of consumers and modify the price of the products that we consume the most at home, ”he replied.

Cheese and quesillo, a luxury on the table

Calero also questioned the high price of milk derivatives, citing as an example that, in Juigalpa, the departmental capital of Chontales, a pound of dry and fresh cheese is bought at 90 córdobas, while quesillo, a product that kept its price static value, now, is quoted at 110 córdobas.

The citizen urged the regulatory entities to take action against the abuse of the merchants and recalled that some three or four years ago the government directed the Nicaraguan Basic Food Company (Enabas) to sell beans to families at a lower price than in At that time, it was being offered in different establishments in the city, which exceeded 30 córdobas per pound.
