The congresswoman who applauds Cuba, but invests in the US

Congressman Agüero on Dina Boluarte: "If she has committed an infraction, she will have to be sanctioned"

During the parliamentary debate on early elections along with the call for a constituent assembly, the congresswoman from , accused the United States of “exporting wars and violence,” while praising for “exporting doctors and education.” In addition, the legislator also stated that the island is “the expression of happiness that any human being wants.”

Currently, according to The Cuban Observatory of Human Rights (OCDH), 72% of Cubans live in poverty. That data coincides with the misery index of the prestigious economist Steve Hanke, in which Cuba ranks first and is considered the most miserable country in the world. Can this really be an expression of happiness?

On the other hand, when the leftist parliamentarian applauded the “export of doctors”, she omitted to mention that the missions in which Cuban doctors participate, have been considered as “forced labor” by the UN. Dozens of testimonies from Cuban doctors revealed that if a doctor defects abroad, he cannot return to Cuba for 8 years and his family suffers political intimidation on the island.

But that is not all. Testimonies collected by the UN denounced that the Cuban dictatorship withholds between 75% and 90% of the salary obtained by doctorss on missions abroad. Ironically, months ago, Congresswoman Agüero assured that the salary she receives as a congresswoman (15,000 soles) was not enough.

Regarding freedom and democracy, In Cuba, a communist dictatorship has been maintained for 64 years, which exercises political control through the Communist Party. According to The Economist magazine’s ranking of democracies, Cuba ranks 139th as an authoritarian regime. In addition, in the Heritage ranking of economic freedom, Cuba is ranked 175 out of 177, only surpassed by Venezuela and North Korea.

It can be appreciated that the economic, social and political conditions of Cuba are far from being an “expression of happiness that any human being wants”, as stated by congresswoman María Agüero.

On this subject, andhe analyst of the Peruvian Institute for Freedom (IPL), Diego Atocriticized the parliamentarian and explained that “from countries that are dictatorships like Cuba, they escape to the United States chasing the American dream”. Furthermore, Ato points out that “Between October 2021 and September 2022, more than 224,000 Cuban migrants escaped to the United States.”

US properties

In 2021, the digital medium Sudaca revealed that Agüero owned two properties in the United States whose total value exceeds two million dollars. And why didn’t you buy in Cuba?

The Peruvian left has shown its admiration for dictatorships that share its ideology, such as Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. This should serve to question whether this model is the one they seek to implement in Peru with a constituent assembly.

I knew that

In the debate over the advancement of elections and the call for a constituent assembly, parliamentarian María Agüero assured that “The difference between capitalists and communists is that the capitalists want everything for a few, and the communists for all humanity.”

With 75 votes against, the left did not achieve its objective of camouflaging a constituent assembly together with an advance of general elections.
