At the instance of the 29th Congress of Mayors and within the framework of the commemoration of the 170 years of the city of Artigas, the president of Antel, Gabriel Gurméndez, was received by the community leaders. At the meeting he presented the main results and management guidelines of the company from the perspective of the interior of the country.
Before the community chiefs and other departmental and national authorities, Gurméndez thanked the opportunity to be able to inform and detail the technological solutions for the country that Antel develops, particularly between 2021 and 2022, and what is projected for the future.
Gabriel Gurméndez expressed that Antelen’s best economic results have been achieved based on the development and advancement of Internet connectivity through the change from copper to fiber optics and the change of routers that allow a higher connection speed.
At a press conference with the leaders, he stated that the instance is a mandatory visit as administrator of a national public company, “listening to the needs of the different localities and trying to provide them with solutions.
“In this sense, it seemed very important to us, to make a push towards the interior in various projects that are under development in the country, at this time, such as fiber optics, where this year and next, we are going to complete all the locations of what the old copper connections are,” he stressed.
“While we are intervening in the development of mobile service coverage, with the installation of 622 radio base antennas, and the planned locations with fiber optics, there will be 154 in this biennium. In particular, we are trying to reach remote rural towns, where we have an ambitious goal of completing their connectivity for public schools, ”he stressed.
Gurméndez announced that in about a month the fiber optic works will begin in Bella Unión, so “the residents will have this technology just like any downtown neighborhood in Montevideo. We are up and running and we have met local needs, such as Cainsa’s, ”he exemplified.
For his part, and within the framework of the commitment assumed with the interior of the country, by the president of the company, Gabriel Gurméndez, on the occasion of his visit to Bella Unión, he also held meetings with local and public health authorities; business, local and cultural producers of the northern city. Gurméndez was received at the Municipality by the mayor of Bella Unión, William Cresseri, and the interim mayor of Tomás Gomensoro, Ana María Carvalho.
