The Comprehensive Plan for Powerful Major Surgery: A Call to Action for Real Change

The Comprehensive Plan for Powerful Major Surgery: A Call to Action for Real Change

Fernando Crespo Lijerón

The society we live in today is marked by decades of poor administrative practices, corruption and an alarming loss of fundamental values. Over time, we have observed how the line between right and wrong has blurred, and how the legal becomes confused with the illegal, while the moral becomes intertwined with the immoral. The consequence is clear: we find ourselves facing a society in decline, where trust in institutions has been seriously affected.

It is worrying to see that, in the current political landscape, none of the parties or groups that present themselves as an alternative for change are proposing a comprehensive and strategic plan that addresses this structural crisis. Despite economic promises, no measure alone will be able to overcome the profound social, political and moral crisis we are experiencing. To reverse this situation, we need an approach that addresses the root problem.

One of the main challenges we face is the fight against structural corruption that corrodes our institutions. This challenge must be a priority in any new government, implementing State policies with a firm commitment and strict compliance with the law. Impunity must have no place, and those who have committed crimes, regardless of their nature, must be tried and convicted.

It is true that wide-ranging reforms will need more than one term of government to produce visible results. However, it is imperative that a gradual and systematic plan be initiated immediately, with the commitment of all sectors of society. Short-term politics can win elections, but only long-term politics can build a prosperous and sustainable future.

The real challenge, therefore, is not only to choose the best leaders, but also to change our conception of the exercise of power. The true measure of the political legacy of a generation is not found in the processes it implemented, but in the projects it left as a legacy.

Faced with the magnitude of this crisis, specialists agree that the country needs “major surgery.” We must intervene in all the evils that afflict us, starting with the moral crisis that corrodes the foundations of our society. The key to this change is an educational model that not only trains professionals, but also trains complete human beings, with solid principles and values. This task is not only the responsibility of the educational system, but also of families and all social actors.

We are not ignoring the urgent need to implement an economic plan with a social focus that addresses the experts’ recommendations. However, this economic plan must be led by a statesman with impeccable moral conduct, who has an inclusive vision and who is willing to work for the common good.

The task of rebuilding our nation is titanic, but it is not impossible. It is essential that everyone, from business owners to students, from workers to housewives, join this effort. The Great Patriotic Crusade that we need must be a national cause, with awareness campaigns in each community and municipality, so that we all understand the benefits of this ambitious plan.

This process is not only a political or economic reform, but a Cultural Revolution that transforms our society from its foundations. Only in this way can we build the country we deserve, a country based on justice, equity and respect for fundamental values.
