The members of the Trade Employees Union of the Federal Capital (SEC) held this Friday in Parque Norte, under a climate of tension and in the midst of cross accusationsan extraordinary general assembly, convened by the board of directors of the union led by Armando Cavalieri, in which the electoral board for the elections of authorities to be held in September was defined.

With strong security measures, some eight thousand affiliates participated in the meeting which concluded without incident in the property located in Güiraldes and Cantilo in the city of Buenos Aires, whose surroundings were cut off from traffic by dozens of school buses that stationed themselves in the parking lot of the place and on the outskirts, on Cantilo Avenue.

The meeting was held in the middle of cross accusations between the sector that responds to Cavalieri, who is going for re-election, and the group that responds to the leader Ramón Muerzawho also seeks to present himself as a candidate.

At the end of the assembly, Cavalieri indicated that it was “a great democratic meeting where more than 8,000 affiliates participated, 6,000 from the blue list and about 2,000 from the Garnet list,” which leads Muerza as a candidate. .

In statements to the press, he described the assembly as “a show of political discipline” and “authentic democracy” in which “people came, lined up, had their card and identity document, we controlled the entry of both like others and today as a result more than 8 thousand people came to vote”.

He also stated that “this shows that unionism when it is well interpreted, people continue with confidence” and that “here the specific interests of the workers, salary, health, coexistence with other people are defended.

In this sense, through a press release, Cavalieri stressed that it is “a triumph of a style of trade unionism that closely follows the great problems of the country and that aspires to national unity to find the solutions we need.”

Muerza said -in statements to the press-. that the result of the vote was “a robbery” and affirmed: “We have documented and filmed that there were more of us, but they manage the assembly from above and say that there are more of them”.

To avoid possible disturbances, lThe Police of the City of Buenos Aires had ordered a security operation in the streets that surround the property, with the aim of preventing the different factions from crossing each other at the entrances, which were delimited so that the affiliates who respond to the two sectors do not cross.

Also a deployment of motorized police and traffic personnel was arranged to order the arrival of the protesters and prevent the buses from mixing, and a hydrant truck from the city police at the gate of Ciudad Universitaria, in front of the Güiraldes entrance.

To order the entrance of each group, entrances with independent accesses were arranged: members who respond to Cavalieri’s “Blue” list enter through the access entrance to Parque Norte located on Avenida Cantilo y Güiraldes S/N, through the Gate 1, while those who respond to the list “Granate Morada” -from Muerza- do the same exclusively through the access provided on Avenida Costanera Rafael Obligado No. 5790.

In the external control posts, the internal ones and in the demarcated spaces within the property there was also the presence of officials and observers from the Ministry of Labor to “guarantee the transparency of the process,” according to the union.

Days ago, the leadership of the union – headed by Cavalieri – accused a sector led by the former secretary of the union Muerza of trying to “impose violence, arrogance and judicial operations” as a mechanism “to resolve an electoral issue”, in the framework of the next elections to be held in the organization.
