The Colorado Party positioned itself in favor of the social security reform proposed by the government of Luis Lacalle Pou, which has found rejection in some social and union sectors.
“We are supporting, as we said from the first day, as an ethical duty of the political system in front of the new generations, to give sustainability to the system,” he declared to the Telenoche the general secretary of the PC, Julio María Sanguinetti.
The party, asserted the former president, agrees “in general terms” with the Executive’s project, because they understand that it will be done gradually. “It is a logical process of convergence, long, because this is 25 years of development to achieve a convergence of systems”, he continued.
However, and despite aligning with the proposed reform, they will propose changes in the wording: Sanguinetti says that they would be modifications in the numerical equations but did not give more technical details in this regard.
complex law
The Colorado leader sees the law as complex in all the issues it covers, but believes that it could address critical situations, such as the Caja de Profesionales, which “is bankrupt”, and others such as the Caja Bancaria, the Military and the Police that require financial support.
“We believe that the system must be made sustainable. We cannot continue waiting for what happens to us, there we have the example, today already in some of the boxes”, he remarked.
