According to tradition, Governor Diego Radillo de Arce played a key role in this historical event. Given his daughter’s serious disease, he promised to bring from Spain the image of the Virgin if she achieved her recovery. The miracle, as counted, was fulfilled, and the image was transferred to the municipality, where since then it has been revered by the community.
