The president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), Colonel José Pereira, reported that the low temperatures registered in Caracas and throughout the north-coastal area of ​​the country will be registered until the end of February and the beginning of March 2023. probably.

This was stated by Pereira in a telephone contact offered to the wave circuitwhere he explained that this phenomenon is due to the little cloudiness that is evident in the Venezuelan sky at night, which allows the release of heat from the earth more quickly and cools the temperature during the early morning.

The states of Zulia, Falcón, Carabobo, Aragua, Vargas, Anzoátegui, Sucre and Nueva Esparta, together with the Capital District, are the most susceptible to this change in temperature.

He explained that in the Andean Region, which includes the states of Táchira, Mérida and Trujillo, there are temperature records between 0 and 2 °C, while in mountainous areas such as Galipán, El Jarillo and Colonia Tovar it can be between 8 and 7 °C

There are areas like Petare, Catia, Baruta and El Hatillo where the temperature is expected to reach 15°C.

The Inameh president indicated that, thanks to the breeze and the wind, the temperature can drop two more degrees because it affects the thermal sensation indicator. He announced that the forecast for the next 15 days will be colder air as a result of the polar wind that approaches the national territory.

November was a cold and rainy month

On the other hand, the Department of Hydrometeorological Engineering of the Central University of Venezuela published its registration bulletin on the rains in the country, qualifying November as “rainy” when documenting 98.7 millimeters of water (about 98.7 liters per square meter), because of the 30 days of the month, 20 there was rain.

That, according to information from the UCV, is higher than the average of 12.1 days and is similar to the all-time high for the month. Similarly, it is noted that it rained five days in a row during two periods: from November 8 to 12 and from November 21 to 25-

They warn that the soils continue to be highly saturated with water and landslides may occur in areas of the Central North Coastal region.
