Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains five provinces on yellow alert and thirteen on green alert, because an area of disturbance to the northeast of the island and a trough will induce humidity and instability that will generate cloudiness, heavy downpours at times, electrical storms and gusts of wind.
The provinces on yellow alert are: Puerto Plata, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, La Altagracia and La Saona.
While in green they are: San Pedro de Macorís, EL Seibo, Hato Mayor, Monseñor Nouel, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, Monte Cristi, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago, Valverde, Pedernales and Barahona.
The COE recommends that people refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines that have high volumes of water in the provinces under alert.

In its report this Friday, the National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported that tomorrow the incidence of the trough at altitude and the arrival of a tropical wave will keep the environment very conducive to the occurrence of downpours of varying intensity with thunderstorms and gusts of wind. wind, especially in the afternoon, over Monte Plata, La Altagracia, El Seibo, El Gran Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte, María Trinidad Sánchez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega and Santiago, among other provinces .
The Onamet reported that Hurricane Rafael is located about 395 kilometers north/northeast of Progreso, Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h. It is moving west at 15 kph. This system does not offer danger to the Dominican Republic.
