Banco Plata presented a financial model with an initial capital of 3,772 million pesos and a plan to operate under the guidelines established by law and that involve financial solvency, operational capacity, information security, risk management, technology for prevention of money laundering, among others.
The authorization is of an indefinite nature. Although the final guarantee for the start of operations is still missing, Banco Plata must still meet some requirements, such as demonstrating the complete integration of its initial capital, guaranteeing having a robust infrastructure to carry out electronic operations and operations with the Bank of Mexico.
In addition, you must obtain final authorization from the CNBV within the corresponding period and after compliance with the requirements established in article 46 Bis of the Credit Institutions Law.
The process itself began in 2023, when Tecnologías Diffisi, led by its majority shareholder Different Technologies, LLC, and minority shareholder Neri Tollardo, requested the transformation of Tecnologías Diffisi into a multiple banking institution.
The Bank of Mexico, through an official letter issued in October 2024, gave the green light to the project, emphasizing that Banco Plata must have sufficient infrastructure to make electronic transfers and carry out operations with the Central Bank itself. And, on December 10, 2024, the birth of the new bank was unanimously agreed, with which Mexico will now have 52 commercial banking institutions.
Recently, Neri Tollardo, founder of Plata Card, said in interview with Expansión that the company will now seek to strengthen the credit card business and allow it to provide savings and investment options.
