While in some areas of the city advances in the maintenance of green areasin other sectors they are still waiting for the passage of the personnel of the companies awarded for this service.
According to the Santa Cruz Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Emacruz), grass cutting and tree pruning services they are 75% complete in these three weeks of operations of the awarded companies.
The Emacruz Operations Manager, Ricardo Oviedo, informed that in sector A (west) the Florida Accidental Association works and in sector B (east) the Guapay Accidental Association, which contracts were awarded for more than Bs 198 million until March 2028.
Oviedo reported that, after more than 20 days of work, there is 75% progress in cleaning and pruning green areas, tasks that were previously carried out with emergency contracts.
“The companies have 45 days from the order to proceed to carry out the implementation and adjustments that are necessary. The same They have been working for more than three weeks”Oviedo said.
In addition, he explained that they are also serving areas where it had not been possible to reach with the emergency plan, since the personnel who worked did not have enough experience to move quickly.
Oviedo pointed out that new maintenance operators are now properly staffed and equipped, that include agricultural tractors, which allows to cover more quickly.
Each company presented a weekly and monthly work program, which Emacruz monitors. “In this schedule the square meters have been stipulated and the areas that they must attend to”, highlighted Oviedo.
The companies were awarded cleaning services for parks and outdoor public places, which includes cutting grass in green areas and pruning trees, in addition to the shredding of vegetable residues.
One of the areas where the residents continue to wait for the cleaning teams is in the seventh ring and Pero Vélez canal, where theThe grass has grown too much on the ridge, which makes it difficult even for drivers to maneuver.
However, the brigades are mobilized in other sectors such as El Trillo avenue, between radial 10 and Tres Pasos al Frente avenue, where a team of six people works with brushcutters to cut the grass that grew on the central ridge.
“It was about time they did the cleaning because it had been several weeks since a mountain had been made. The grass was knee-deep which was a health risk due to the nests of mosquitoes that formed and the insecurity due to the vicious ones that hid in the bushes,” said Ángel Flores, a resident of the area.
In District 5, along Alemania avenue, a group was carrying out cleaning tasks of two soccer fields and the green area of a center for the elderly.
In addition to rakes and brushcutters, heavy machinery was mobilized to carry out the tasks in these places.
