The Municipality of Neuquén presented this Friday the new groups that will provide the service in the city from February, with the aim of install public passenger transport as the first mobility option.
The presentation took place this morning at the Central Park of the provincial capital, next to the National museum of fine arts, and was attended by the governor of Neuquén, Omar Gutiérrez; the mayor of the city, Mariano Gaido; the municipal secretary of Mobility and Urban Services, Santiago Morán, and the general secretary of the Automotive Tramway Union (UTA), Javier Soto.
“It is a historic day, more than fifteen years ago we were waiting to have a bus at the level of the city of Neuquén”, Gaido highlighted, surrounded by people who came to meet the new light blue and white fleet.
The community chief pointed out that “It is ending with a poor service and that did not work”and remarked that “this is the result of the fact that in Neuquén there are no cracks, because here municipality-province and province-municipality we are together with ideas, projects and work”.
“It is a service that was not being used because there is no trust, and now with this new transport the idea is that we start to leave the cars, motorcycles and trust public passenger transport,” he added.
The governor stressed that “this is the most important thing that has happened in the city in the last twenty years; it is a triumph for every citizen of Neuquén capital”; and thanked the National University of Comahue (UNCo) their participation in the hearings to define the design of the new routes and the municipal team for having renewed the fleet and the service concession.
From the Neuquén Municipality they reported that the 180 cars that will be incorporated between February and March are zero kilometers and have air conditioning, security cameras, heating, GPS and ramps for people with reduced mobility.
In addition, an app will soon be available where the user can see what time the bus will pass in real time and rate the service provided.
The winners of the national public tender were the companies Iguazu Tiger and KoKowhich will provide the service with an increase of one hundred percent of units in circulation.
