Santo Domingo. – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began this Saturday the construction work of a chapel in the La Uba community, in Punta de Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte municipality, with the purpose of expanding the preaching of the gospel in the district, in an event that was attended by a large part of its members, community leaders and municipal politicians,
The religious ceremony was presided over by the president of the Villa Mella Stake, Edwin Pérez, who also offered a prayer dedication of the place as a space of worship to God, refuge for those most in need, love, peace, harmony and spirituality.
The new religious center joins a dozen chapels built by said church in Santo Domingo Norte, and the municipality of Yamasá.
When leading the groundbreaking of the work, Edwin Pérez, assured that the chapel It will positively impact the lives of the members of this congregation and the community of La Uva in Punta and surrounding areas.
“This building will be used for the worship of God and for the benefit of the community, with the aim of holding cultural and sporting events, among others,” said Edwin Pérez, who was accompanied by deputies Carlos Pérez and Dulce Rojas.
The religious leader cited that “through small and simple things great things are accomplished,” stating that God’s mandate is to go and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of humanity.
During his prayer, Pérez guaranteed that the chapel will be illuminated with the light of Christ and surrounded by peace, love, blessings and hopes. «I testify that Jesus Christ lives, He is our redeemer and savior. Let us continue to extend our hands to the communities so that they feel the joy of Christ,” he expressed.
While, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saintsexpressed that for years they waited with joy for the construction of the chapel, predicting the beginning of the expansion of the gospel of Jesus Christ in the different neighborhoods of Punta, in Villa Mella.
According to the design of the project of the work that the engineer Ángel Díaz is in charge of, the exterior part of the church will have, in addition to its parking spaces, a basketball, volleyball and soccer court so that people can recreate through the sports.
During the activity, the service provided by the bishop of the Punta neighborhood, Juan Carlos García, and the former president of the old Punta branch, Ernesto Castillo, respectively, was recognized. Likewise, the ecclesiastical work of Clemente Sánchez, as a pioneer of the Church in this area.
