The Archbishop of Santa Cruz, Monsignor René Leigue, in his Sunday homily from the Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo, asked not to fall asleep in the face of cases of femicide, injustice, lies and the children who suffer. He appealed to the mercy of the Christian faithful to act in any of these events.

“It will not be that this is also happening to us, numbing ourselves in things that maybe we see that it is not correct, that it is not good, that it is not right, but sometimes we are left with that of: what are we going to do? This is the reality. What do we see in the reality we live in? We see so much injustice, so many lies, so much slander, so much femicide, so many children who suffer. All this that we see every day is one more of many that there is and we are conforming to that”, remarked the religious leader.

He also stated that we have to worry about everything that is not right. “We’re getting used to this being normal, and if we stick with it, I don’t know what’s going to be the end of us. (…) A Sometimes it is said: ‘This person used to be Catholic, but now I don’t know where he is, I don’t know if he goes to mass or where he will go’ And we stay there, we don’t worry about that person, is it not part of your commitment to worry by the neighbor or the neighbor? Are we also concerned about his faith? “This person used to be good, now he behaves this way” Why would it be him? And we leave it there and we don’t worry about it anymore,” she asserted.

In the homily, Monsignor insisted on not seeing bad things as something normal. If something happens to us in the family that is not right, some unfortunate death, an accident or whatever happens, we just feel that need that someone was missing. The Lord calls me today to be someone who also cares about others.”

“What do I have to do? The Lord calls me today to be someone who also cares for others, just as he cares for us. God is merciful, God is Good and God does not want anyone to be missing in his family, God does not want a son or a daughter to get lost along the way. There is more joy in heaven for one sinner who is converted, than for 99 who are already converted.”he stated.
