The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended in a statement to avoid traveling to Peru “until the situation normalizes.” This, in relation to the protests that take place in the neighboring country after the removal of the former president Pedro Castillo. The Government also indicated that they are taking steps to help compatriots who require it.
“Those who plan to travel to Peru in the coming days are recommended to avoid or postpone the trip until the situation normalizes,” the Foreign Ministry said in the statement. Let us remember that so far there are 22 deaths in the framework of the demonstrations.

The Government affirmed that they are “carrying out various steps to help the compatriots who require it. In this sense, the reopening of the Arequipa airport is being monitored with local authorities and we continue to communicate with the requirements of Chilean men and women in that region.”
Along these lines, they verified that “the Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in Cusco is operational. Officials from our Embassy in Lima and from Chile will go to that city today to monitor the situation of the flights and facilitate negotiations with the authorities premises, considering the complex transportation scenario from remote areas to Cusco, such as Aguas Calientes”.
The Foreign Ministry reiterated that “the General Consulates of Chile in Lima and Tacna remain on alert and acting in coordination to respond to inquiries and requests received from Chilean nationals located in various parts of Peruvian territory.”
In addition, they commented that they continue to carry out a cadastre of those who communicate with the Consulates.
