Cajeme did not disclose whether he will continue to work in the public or private sector, but he explained that he will continue to grow in the areas of finance, infrastructure and energy, “the areas that I have come to know and love,” he wrote.
Currently, in the public sector there are two vacant positions for a profile like that of the former chief economist of the Treasury: the vice-presidency of the Inegi Economic Information subsystem, left by Graciela Márquez Colín, when she became president of the Governing Board of this body, after the departure of Julio Santaella.
The General Directorate of Economic Research of the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) is also vacant, who was in charge of Daniel Chiquiar, who left his post due to medical indications.
Because of his experience, Cajeme Villarreal can be considered in the list to fill the vacancy in Inegi.
Trajectory
Cajeme Villarreal served as head of economic planning at the Treasury from May 2020 to January 2022.
At the Ministry of Energy, he served as general director of the Energy Market from 2017 to 2018. He also worked as general director of Analysis of the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
