He Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD) affirmed this Thursday that the statements of the president of the Dominican Association of Builders and Promoters of Housing (Acoprovi) on the specialization of resources to that sector in the release measures of legal reserve approved by the institution in June 2025 lack statistical foundation and support.
Through an explanatory note, the BCRD assured that the liquidity measures approved by the Monetary Board in the sixth month of this year resulted in the channeling of 22,522 million pesos for activities associated with construction and purchase of real estate, representing close to 36% of the 62 billion pesos released.

In the document, the monetary institution clarified that only in loans for the acquisition of homes, banking entities granted 8,575 million pesos with resources from the legal reserve, of which 5,278 million pesos were used for the purchase of low-cost and social interest units and 3,297 million for other types of residences.
Furthermore, he added that they were allocated 13,947 million pesos for the construction activitiesunderstanding the purchase of landmachinery, equipment and supplies, used for both the lifting and completion stages of new residential projects and commercial.
“As has been observed, with the adoption of the liquidity measures in June 2025 construction sector and acquisition of housing has perceived a greater flow of financing which has been reflected in the aggregate credit statistics in national currency for these economic lines, sent by financial intermediation entities,” he highlighted.
Credit growth
The BCRD maintained that the growth rate of credit in these economic lines shows expansion rates superior to the rest of the private sector in national currency, indicating a favorable dynamic of the housing compared to the rest of the sectors.
He highlighted that during the period November 2024-2025the rate of credit expansion for the construction was 25.5%, while for the acquisition of housing resulted in 11.4%. In both cases, the growth rates are higher than growth rate of private loans in national currency, which at the end of November grew around 8% year-on-year.
“Because of the above, we understand that the interpretations developed from the statements of the president of the Dominican Association of Builders and Promoters of Housing (Annerys Melendez), about the nonexistence of financing to this sector as part of the lace measurements approved in June 2025,” the bank said.
