The celebrations for the 140th anniversary of the founding of the city of La Plata began with more than 30 cultural proposals, exhibitions, talks, music, dance and a colorful presentation of Crossing the Charco in the vigil of November 19 in the Plaza Malvinas of the Buenos Aires capital.
“Thousands of families were able to enjoy local art and, at the same time, the artists had the opportunity to show their works in one of the most popular events in the City”, highlighted the Secretary of Culture and Education, Martiniano Ferrer Picado.
The celebration began on Friday at 4:00 p.m. and lasted until midnight. with artistic shows starring exponents of the most varied musical, theatrical and photographic genres.
“It was a multidisciplinary day and each place had a well-marked profile”, reported the official.
With the Malvinas square as the central stage, the festivities included the performance of dancers, photographers, musicians, writers and references from La Plata from different disciplinesThey reported from the commune.
The closing of this first day and in the countdown to receive the 140th birthday of La Plata, one of the main numbers was the presentation Crossing the Puddle, group led by Francisco Lago that fuses rock with candombe, cumbia and pop, before a large influx of public, in the space of avenue 19 and 51.
They also hosted activities the Almafuerte Museum, where there was a photographic exhibition coordinated by Espacio F; Dardo Rocha Passage, with the painting expo of the collective “Overol”; the Lopez Merino Palace, where the writer Alcira Cufré gave a talk and Gustavo Flute and Nico Lindblom performed their songs; Y the Dardo Rocha Museum and Archive, which featured a presentation by the Euzko Etxea groups from the Basko Center and the Choir from the College of Speech Therapists.
The playón of the Meridiano V circuit It was another point where hundreds of families were able to enjoy the performance of musical bands such as the Orquesta Tango Norte, Luna y Fango, Juli Suanno and La Matilde Cumbia Club; and also Diagonal 74, where Ángeles Mendoza, Lucía Giles, Ximena Zapata and local groups of different genres shared their songs while the attendees also enjoyed the wide gastronomic offer of the area.
Also, in the cultural center Julio López de Los Hornos there were recreational spaces and more live shows by Abril Alconada, Garoto and Lucas Vanza, among other artists; while at the Casa Benoit the reopening of the historic engineer’s box took place along with exhibitions and artistic presentations by Resilient and Orquesta Simple.
It is worth remembering that the celebrations for the 140 years of La Plata will continue this Saturday in Plaza Moreno, with a gastronomic patio, artisan stands and performances by Fer Palacio, Estelares, Chano, Los Palmeras and more recognized figures.
