With congratulations from President Luis Abinader and other personalities, as well as the delivery of gifts, meetings in parks, restaurants, squares, visits to beaches, rivers, churches and cemeteries, Dominican mothers yesterday celebrated their day, which this year increased business activities compared to 2021.
Andrea González decided to celebrate with her four children and the same number of grandchildren the Mother’s day in the Mirador del Norte park, in the middle of nature and says that the greatest blessing a woman can receive is to be a mother.
“There is no word that can give meaning to what a mother is, that mother contains everything, love, respect, dedication, dedication, no matter what it is, mothers are always by our children’s side in each of the moments, from joy and also sadness,” he said.
Wilmary Sime is not a mother, but she is a grateful daughter and for her, being a mother is union, sharing with the family and she thanks God for the unity of families.
Silvia Santana has six children, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and she also decided to use a public space to celebrate her day. Her joy is evident as she thanks her offspring who celebrate her day every year with family sharing.
Her daughters Wendy Figuereo Santana and Johanny Figuereo agree that every day they claim to be one of the mothers to tell her that they love her, but that this day in particular and they are grateful that their mother is alive to honor her and share with her.
At the Mirador Sur, a group of people also got together to celebrate and there they prayed, shared food such as chenchén and other succulent dishes. Retired General Aquino and Héctor Encarnación explained that every year they hold this meeting with the mothers and other relatives of their native San Juan.
“The Encarnación, Eugenio, Aquino and other families have a family tradition of getting together for several days of the year and today we have prepared an activity to recognize the value of mothers and share, whoever can takes a mabí, takes it, the that you can have a beer, a glass of wine to celebrate the greatest day that humanity has, which is Mother’s Day”.
Other families went to restaurants, traveled to their towns and there were others who did not celebrate with joy because their mothers died. They went to the cemeteries as a family and in a private way to bring flowers and candles to their mothers.

The President of the Republic and his wife Raquel Arbaje congratulated the mothers through messages through social networks: “Happy Mother’s day! A big hug, today and always, ”the president wrote on his Twitter account.
While his wife expressed: “Mothers are the pillar that supports the family, the tree that gives good shade to your sons and daughters so that they grow up as people of values, with projects for the future, with determination to move towards their goals.”
The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña was not far behind and also expressed words of congratulations to the mothers through social networks.
“Bringing life to the world is a beautiful privilege that God granted to women and on this special date, I want to send a message of recognition to Dominican mothers, for the loving act of dedication that protecting, feeding and accompanying their children and daughters,” he posted.
The president of the People’s Force, Leonel Fernández wrote: “A well-deserved and heartfelt tribute to the sacrifice, tenderness, love and dedication of all Dominican mothers on their day. My deepest admiration to you!”
Former Vice President of the Republic and presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Margarita Cedeño said: “The first struggle we know is that of a mother for her children. From the womb, nurturing the life that will be brought into the world, taking care of each step so that it grows healthy and strong, watching over her dreams, cultivating hope. With a love that knows no end,” Cedeño wrote.
The Dominican Liberation Party, in the person of its general secretary Charles Mariotti, congratulated the mothers on their day, the leadership of the organization congratulated the Dominican mothers in different ways.
The congratulations began last Friday with a treat for the mothers of the Casa Nacional Reinaldo Pared Pérez, led by Mariotti.
For his part, Miguel Vargas, president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), wrote a brief message to the mothers: “On this special day I honor the dedication, perseverance, love and industriousness of all Dominican mothers. Grateful for their dedication, we place our faith in them to strengthen the family unit and the values that should support it. Happy Mother’s day!”.
Mother’s day active trade in Santiago

David Prieto, who is another of the directors of the Association, assured that the flow of sales this year has been good, not as much as they aspired to because they understand that inflation and the lack of money have affected it.
