MIAMI, United States. — Former Cuban spy Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), announced the call for a photo contest sponsored by that citizen control and surveillance organization.
Under the title “Somos el Barrio”, the latest slogan of the CDR, the contestants will be able to venture into four photographic categories. A grand prize will be offered per category and a grand prize among all the participating works.
The novelty on this occasion will be the delivery of bicycles to the winners.
“If you like photography and riding bicycles, this may be your opportunity,” he said in Twitter the former member of the Wasp Network.
Since taking command of the CDR, Gerardo Hernández has not stopped launching initiatives to try to rescue the moribund organization. Among the most popular projects was “Grow your little piece”a call to the Cuban people to grow food in the patios of their homes to alleviate the food shortage in the country.
The former spy went so far as to publicly assure that if each family used their space to produce fruit, root vegetables and vegetables, the country would have to import less.
In this sense, the senior member of the CDR went so far as to declare that family farming was the model to follow in the country, and even said that he was aware that such initiatives could generate ridicule among the “enemies” of the revolution.
As part of this project, Gerardo Hernández assured that he would distribute watering cans of ten liters of stainless steel for those neighbors who stood out in the program.
“With ten-liter stainless steel showers, the CDRs will encourage neighbors throughout the country who stand out in the “Cultivate your little piece” program,” said the former spy in November 2020.
One of the winners of the aforementioned showers was former Cuban player Carlos Tabares, who later decided to travel to the United States to establish his residence in the northern country.
