New provisions for motorcyclists
Lajous affirmed that there will be a tightening of measures for motorcyclists, both individuals and those who provide service to the different delivery applications.
Delivery companies must have insurance specially designed for the activities carried out by delivery drivers, and those who work on the platforms must have a type A1 license and a helmet with safety specifications for these units.
“They must be helmets specially designed for motorcycles, because we have seen that some use helmets for bicycles, construction or for other activities that do not guarantee a safe trip,” he said.
Motorcyclists who do not have a license for that segment, will also be credited with the corresponding sanction, their motorcycle will be sent to a corralón.
The official stressed that the traffic regulations will be reformed to increase the cylinder capacity of motorcycles that can circulate on controlled access roads such as Viaduct, Peripheral or Interior Circuit, by going from 250 cubic centimeters (CC) to 600 CC, the minimum to enter.
“We realized that many fatal accidents occur on expressways, where motorcyclists are the main victims,” he said.
For his part, Francisco Javier Moreno, traffic undersecretary of the Citizen Security Secretariat, stated that despite the fact that these measures will come into force on December 1, there will be a period of information for motorcyclists about the new provisions so that there is no ” Witch hunt”.
