Jesús Sesma, leader of the PVEM, also spoke out for using all legal and political strategies to stop the loss of part of the Chapultepec Forest. “If they take away my deputation for maintaining the Chapultepec Forest, I will return it tomorrow,” said the legislator.

The president of the Board of Directors, Martha Ávila, maintained that Congress is preparing a legal defense, since it considers that the court exceeds its powers by ordering the change of land use without further procedure, when the legislative process consists of analyzing the change initiative. of land use, generate an opinion in commissions and then submit it to a vote before the plenary session.

The dispute even reached President Claudia Sheinbaum, who as head of government rejected in 2019 the order “to deliver the real estate to the complainant as it was before the expropriation occurred,” as indicated by an incident of non-execution of the amparo trial with file 1321/2007.

The president rejected the change in land use and assured that she will support the process against the resolution won by the real estate company against the current head of Government, Clara Brugada.

“There will be no change in land use from natural areas and particularly protected natural areas to other uses and even less urban development; On the contrary, we are going to protect and continue expanding protected natural areas.

“The Chapultepec Forest is an assignment to Mexico City, but there to Clara Brugada, the head of Government, whatever requires support, well we will be supporting there,” he said during his conference this October 22.
