The Permanent Council of the Episcopal Conference of Uruguay issued a statement on Thursday with a series of care to be taken in the celebrations of Holy Week.
As for the priests and other ministers of communion, asks that they continue to use masks and alcohol gel in the distribution of “Holy Communion”, while requesting to the faithful the use of the chinstrap when there are a large number of attendees.
The statement also asked continue to omit the “salute of peace”, which typically involves a kiss on the cheek or a handshake.
In reference to the lifting of the health emergency, he indicated: “thank God because the pandemic that has affected family, social, and economic life so much, as well as the life of our communities, is subsiding.”
In turn, he asked his faithful to pray for the victims of covid-19 and for those who are currently suffering from the disease, as well as for the end of the war in Ukraine and other countries.
