The cartographic update carried out by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in Santa Cruz de la Sierra has 65 percent progress, according to the Minister of Development Planning, Sergio Cusicanqui.
The national authority said that this cartographic update continues to be carried out in Cochabamba and La Paz, which have more than 60 percent progress, and El Alto. “The cartographic update continues to advance in a coordinated manner as scheduled,” said Cusicanqui.
According to the minister, during the 36 days of the strike in which the Population and Housing Census was demanded, the INE updaters had some difficulty moving to their assigned areas.
The second problem, Cusicanqui continued, was that Upon reaching these assigned points, the officials were rejected by some neighbors. “However, redoubling its efforts, the INE in Santa Cruz is trying to make up for lost time and thus be able to update the cartographic update,” said the minister.
He added that this update concluded in six other capital cities: Cobija, Trinidad, Oruro, Potosí, Tarija and Sucre.
The cartographic update is a preparatory work for the Population and Housing Census, which allows to identify the areas of operation of the census takers and in addition to specifying the number of homes to find out the number of ballots and questionnaires that will be needed on the day of the registration.
The updaters are properly uniformedwith a hat and his institutional vest, a respective credential with photograph, personal data and QR code to verify the identity of the staff.
