The Santa Cruz Carnival will take place this 2023, officially confirmed the Cruceña Association of Carnival Troupes (ACCC), at a press conference this Wednesday.

Regarding the privateering, which will take place on February 18, Gustavo Gil, ACCC President, explained that only floats and allegories with the “Let’s break chains” theme, and that the universal or fantasy category will be eliminated. He said that the music will also go accordingly.

“We are going to show the world that Santa Cruz is in protestthat Santa Cruz is against the kidnapping of our governor,” he remarked.
As for the dance activities and folklore from Santa Cruz, they will take place in April of this year; the date has not yet been defined. Gil pointed out that the three days of wetting They are not organized by the ACCC, but are from the town, comparsas, fraternities and private individuals.

“We call on all the people who will participate, to be responsible as they always were, to join in ppeaceful and creative protests in this days. Let’s hope for better days for our department, for the governor and the political prisoners,” he added.

Gil recalled that, as part of Assembly of Cruceñidad, the association participated in the various pressure measures that were adopted; among them the call for a march to protest the arrest of the governor of Santa Cruz, and which was coordinated with the comparsas in the United States and Spain for protest activities.

“We have always been and will be part of all the peaceful and democratic struggles of our Civic Committee,” Gil said in a conference at the Novotel hotel, supported by the ACCC board of directors.

He maintained that it was demonstrated from the history of the carnival in Santa Cruz, that they were part of the struggles from Andrés Ibáñez, the fight for the railway, the autonomies, the 21F, to name a few, against centralism.

The president of the ACCC indicated that, since the conflict over the arrest of Camacho began, he gave priority to the moment that Santa Cruz was going through and not to his agenda, such as the anniversary of the association on January 7 and the pre-carnival in the crossing center.

The ACCC remained silent regarding the carrying out of the carnival activities, for several days, despite the fact that various comparsas issued statements in which they decline their participation in the carnival, due to the “situation in Santa Cruz”, the demonstrations that demand justice, freedom and democracy, in addition to the release of the governor of Santa Cruz, who has been detained in Chonchocoro since the end of last December.

The Rotary ladies, who organize the Children’s Carnival, reported this week that their Activities will be suspended until 2024.

The Municipality had announced that the three days of wetting They would be held because the population has “free will” to celebrate on those holidays. In the same way, he indicated that they would meet with the ACCC to coordinate other activities, such as the Corso and the coronation of the queen.
