the captain of the republican guard who was denounced by a policewoman –who reports being the victim of an attempted sexual abuse– was transferred from the headquarters in Montevideo. The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, informed the press on Monday that the “immediate removal from office” had been arranged, but the cash is still in office, reported La Diaria and confirmed from the Ministry of the Interior to The Observer.
Asked if he was still working and if he was separated from the position, Heber responded at a press conference: “What we are doing is always the immediate separation from the position.” He gave no further details and asked journalists to consult the national director of the Republican Guard.
According to what they said from the portfolio to The Observer, the man was transferred from the headquarters located on José Pedro Varela Avenue, to another building of the Ministry of the Interior in the Prado neighborhood. This measure was ordered in compliance with the protocol for complaints of this type, in addition to preserving the complainant.
“We have channeled all these episodes that occur. Let’s go to the real sources, in this case to the National Director of the Republican Guard, who is the one who ultimately has the detailed details to give them. None escapes him, both the episodes that occur in the headquarters, of crimes that unfortunately we can preventand others that we cannot prevent and that we have to repress,” Heber said Monday.
The complaint
An ensign reported to the Ministry of the Interior that a captain of the Republican Guard tried to sexually abuse her, as reported by The Observer this Saturday. The The complaint was filed with the Ministry’s Gender Policy Commission, and then forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
The man was transferred from the Patrimonial Comptroller Office where he was, to the Directorate II Special Units-Secretariat, the bulletin of orders of the Republican Guard appears, reported La Diaria at the time.
The woman reported that the events occurred at the headquarters of the Republican Guard.
