In the last few hours, from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Health, they gave a new report on the fourth wave of coronaviruswhich began at the beginning of May and, according to the latest report, would be nearing completion.
Leticia Ceriani, Undersecretary for Information Management at the ministry, pointed out that “everything would indicate that we are coming out of the fourth wave of coronavirus“, this given that the cases of covid 19 have decreased in recent days.
“The cases had been rising but more slowly and the week that ended on Sunday we saw a reduction in relation to the previous week. We entered a descent of the curve“, which would indicate that the new wave of coronavirus It would be in its final cycle.
However, the official stressed that the slight decline does not determine that the wave has been overcome; To do this, we will have to wait to see how the epidemiological behavior of the virus progresses in the coming days.
This, given the circulation of new variants in the country, which in principle are more contagious, but show a milder symptomatology, which, added to the advances in vaccination, has allowed few cases of hospitalization in the country. .
“It started to happen with the third wave and, now, in the fourth wave, even more so because the waves seem to be much shorter and that, despite there being a significant increase in cases, there is no correlation in terms of occupation of beds in intensive care, serious conditions or deaths,” he explained.
Additionally, the undersecretary explained that “coming out of a fourth wave does not mean that there cannot be a fifth or sixth later”; therefore, the main recommendation is to maintain self-care and get vaccinated.
What will happen to the sanitary measures in the province
As the authorities pointed out at the start of the new wave of covid 19, it is necessary to reinforce the use of the chinstrap, maintain ventilated closed spaces and frequently wash your hands to avoid the risk of contagion. Nevertheless, For now, more drastic measures such as the mandatory chinstrap outdoors are ruled out.
In this regard, Ceriani pointed out: “I do not see it possible that it will happen, we are going through the fourth wave with many cases where we did not have to return to the mandatory chinstrap and that did not imply that the health system is saturated; today, as is the scenario , it is difficult to imagine a return to the mandatory mask.”
