The Legislature of the province of Buenos Aires, approved in the early hours of this Friday the law of zero alcohol behind the wheel, which will be applied to vehicles traveling on the routes of the province.

The law of zero alcohol It had been promoted by the Provincial Transport Minister, Jorge D’Onofrio, who celebrated the approval of the regulations and assured that many lives could be saved with this.
“We achieved a fundamental step to save lives in the province of Buenos Aires. With zero alcohol behind the wheel we advance as a society in something as necessary as taking care of each other. Today, the person who is going to drive knows that they do not have to drink a drop of alcohol to do so responsibly”, he indicated.
Likewise, he highlighted: “When we took office as head of the Ministry, the Governor entrusted us to protect our neighbors. Thanks to the accompaniment of the Legislature, the work of the victims’ associations and the important task that we carry out daily to add more road awareness We are going to save lives.”
In this way, the norm provides for the incorporation and modification of articles of Law 13,927 of the Traffic Code to establish the prohibition of driving under the influence of alcohol.
In this regard, the minister remarked: “We seek to generate a cultural change in the Province. It does not go through the fact of imposing harsher penalties, we do not seek to be collectors, we want to be the promoters of a change that helps us to have all lives count ” .
What are the sanctions?

This will depend on the level of alcohol in the blood. If the blood alcohol level is 499 milligrams, they will receive three months of disqualification from driving; if it is between 500 and 999 milligrams, the penalty will be six months. Meanwhile, people who circulate with rates between 1,000 and 1,500 milligrams of alcohol per liter of blood will be disabled for 18 months.
