The Buenos Aires Ministry of Education began this Thursday to make official the extension of the classes in the schools that were taken, by sending the families of the students a notification with the number of days in which it will implement the measure adopted to “recover” the “lost” days.
“Each day at school is a new opportunity to learn and attendance in the school environment is a priority for meeting, teaching and learning,” begins the note they received by email.
It points out that “the recent seizure of the school establishment prevented the normal development of the planned activities and caused the loss of school days. Therefore, to make up for the days of classes lost as a result of the seizure, the class period will be extended.”

In each note, meanwhile, was the number of days by which the current school year will be extended, a figure that responds to the days in which the students protested for building improvements, better nutritional quality in food and against labor practices.
For example, in the case of School 2, of school district 16, “Agustín Tosco”, students must attend three more days, which will end on December 12; while in School 1, of school district 14, “Federico García Lorca”, the number of days “to recover” amounts to five.

After knowing the resolution, the legislator of the Front of All and vice president of the Education Commission, Maru Bielli, considered that “the main cause of loss of classes in the City is not the taking over of schools, but the lack of teachers.” And she announced that “starting today we are going to publish a counter of the number of hours left unfilled in secondary school”.
From the FIT Unit, the deputy Alejandrina Barry told Télam that they will present a statement repudiating Acuña’s provision, considering that “it was a measure of persecution towards the boys and girls instead of listening to their claims.”
