The Ministry of Education of the City of Buenos Aires agreed with the teachers unions of the district a salary increase of 40%, for which the net initial salary will amount to almost 80 thousand pesos for a single day and almost 160 thousand pesos for a full day, reported that wallet.
The increase will be paid in three installments (14.5% in March, 9% in July and 16.5% in October) and there will be a review in September, the Ministry led by Soledad Acuña explained in a statement.
The local Education portfolio reported that “the teaching parity closed this afternoon in a meeting with the representatives of the 17 Buenos Aires unions. In this way, and with an increase of 40%, the net initial salary will be $ 79,576.21 for a day simple and $159,152.42 for full-time, while the salary with seniority will be $96,710.66 for single-time and $186,187.74 for full-time.
“The increase for 2022 will be paid in three installments: March (14.5%), July (9%) and October (16.5%) and includes a review in September,” he specified.
He also said that “last January and February, Buenos Aires teachers had received two bonuses of $4,000 pesos each for a single day and $8,000 for a full day, which was part of the agreement closed last year.”
Currently, he specified, “the starting salary for entrants (without seniority) was $55,190 for a single day and $110,380 for a full day. While with seniority the salary is $67,428 for a single day and $129,692 for a full day.”
The response of the unions
Authorities from the Buenos Aires Ministry of Education and representatives of the 17 teachers’ unions of the City participated in the meeting.
Industry sources said the Ademys union rejected the proposal.
In the meantime, the Union of Education Workers (UTE) indicated that the proposal will be put to “consideration” of the plenary sessions of delegates by areas, levels and modalities.
“We continue to demand decent working conditions, massive, photographic and cascading effect securitization for the affected teachers, face-to-face and transparent public events, the more than 50,000 missing vacancies and an increase in the educational budget,” the organization said in a statement.
