D’Alessandro and Mahiques participated last October in a private trip to the lands that the English magnate Lewis owns in Lago Argentino, together with judges, a former intelligence agent and directors of Grupo Clarín, who met from a chat leak published in the newspaper Página 12.

The block’s vice president, Javier Andrade, affirmed that the impeachment is required because the officials “tried to cover up” the trip “with media and judicial operations” and because “they are part of the mafia that has kidnapped democracy.”

After the trip, conversations were known that the participants had with the aim of hiding it and forging invoices to pretend that they had paid for it, since, it is presumed, it was financed by Grupo Clarín.

On December 5, the president Alberto Fernandez announced, through a national network, that it instructed the Ministry of Justice of the Nation to adopt the necessary measures in order to investigate the trip, after the issue received greater media coverage from the leak of the conversations held via Telegram.

In the same message, the President instructed the Buenos Aires FdT to “evaluate the conduct of the officials of that district who are involved and, if appropriate, present the impeachment trial.”
