The political force has called on citizens to participate and learn about the proposals of its program first-hand, which, according to them, has been developed after more than a year of work with thousands of activists from all over the country.
Among the FA representatives who will be present are Yamandú Orsi, presidential candidate; Carolina Cosse, former mayor of Montevideo; and Fernando Pereira, president of the Frente Amplio.
Regarding the event, opposition senator Mario Bergara highlighted the importance of the program developed by the FA. “It is a program that was created after more than a year of work with thousands of colleagues from all over the country. It is a program made in dialogue with the Uruguayan people,” he declared. In addition, Bergara recalled that many of the measures were already announced during the Committee Day, celebrated on August 25, and that this event in Colonia will go into more detail on each of them.
Bergara also highlighted the comprehensive vision of the programme and warned against simplistic solutions: “There is everything now. Concrete measures are a merit to the extent that they are framed in a vision, a comprehensive policy of things. Concrete measures like silver bullets that will magically resolve the issues, that has no greater value.”
The senator added that the Frente Amplio had learned valuable lessons after its 15 years in government. “We did some things reasonably well, and we made mistakes in others. In the process of self-criticism, I hope we have learned a few things,” he said. However, he insisted that there are no “magic wands” to solve complex problems such as employment, security, education, or health. “We have to work on comprehensive policies with teams, and the Frente Amplio has proven teams in all areas,” he concluded.
